Rev. Derek Garcia

Rev. Derek Garcia

Derek grew up in a devout Christian household with parents who were founding pastors of El Tabernaculo de Gozo church. He also did 2 years at BOCES in Farmingdale for Aviation and followed his passion for flying up until his first few months in college.  Following a trip to India, Derek was inspired to follow his heart in a different direction and gave up flying to follow in his father’s footsteps.

While at SUNY Farmingdale, Derek founded the Farmingdale State Christian Club that is still up and running today.  His experience there led him to realize that his passion was to speak to others about the hope found in Christ and share principles on how to live a lifestyle that is biblically based and to reach the greatest potential that is in everyone.

In 2003, Derek attended Oral Roberts University. At ORU, Derek met his now wife, Stephanie. They have three beautiful children, Grace, Josiah and Obed. He is now the Senior Pastor of his church.  In 2006, he started to work with the Long Island Hispanic Pastoral Association, and today he is the Executive Director of Public and Political Affairs where he works closely with hundreds of pastors in Nassau, Suffolk and Queens helping to support and connect ministries with social services, political leaders and social issues.

Derek has gladly coordinated the distribution of goods and services from elected officials, community organizations, and his own church, where he actively teaches his congregation the importance of recognizing needs around us and working to meet those needs.
