August 5th, 2010 – Principle: COURAGE (Part 1)

Sabrina_Bio_Pix_Cropped Guest: Sabrina, is truly a beautiful young lady both inside and out. She was conceived through an unhealthy relationship with her mother and father. She was unwanted by her father and a challenge to a poor single mother. As a young teenager she tried to take her own life because she felt unworthy of being loved.

She and her young mom were taken-in by her loving grandmother, but still longed for the love of a man which brought her down destructive trail of wrong choices. This led to teenage pregnancy and marriage. The seemingly right answer to her problems was a man who turned out to be her worst nightmare; she became imprisoned to a life of physical, emotional and sexual abuse.  This led to a second attempt to take her life.

It was after that event that she knew her life could be ending if she did not find the COURAGE to permanently change her feelings and actions of the past. Her true recovery led to a new personal relationship with the man of her dreams, she fell in love with the Son of God and entered a journey with Jesus Christ that has brought her from victim to victorious.

Jackie_Bio_Pix Guest: Jackie, is truly a beautiful young lady both inside and out. She was born into what we would call the typical American family, with hard working parents and healthy sibling relationships. The picture changed when her parents divorced and she felt that she needed to establish her own identity. This led to a trail of wrong discussions including a short-term marriage for all the wrong reasons.

She was able to rebound and start a successful career in the design industry, traveling the US and abroad, unfortunately keeping much of the unhealthy habits of an unbalanced life style.

Able again to rebound from a trail of broken dreams, she married a man and they built what appeared to be the perfect American dream. The family photos were perfect and from any outsiders view but behind closed doors her fairytale turned into a living nightmare. She knew that she had to get out and that she was going to need courage and strength that she alone did not have.

Today her life is getting back on track living outside the walls of the prison and she no-longer needs to be silent.  Her COURAGE and strength came from her desire to seek God’s will for her life and that happened when she committed to live by God’s principle vs the principles of the world.

Amy_Jo_Bio_PhotoGuest: Amy Jo, from the great state of Texas and is quite proud of it, as most Texans I know.  She also fits into the same category as my other guests, truly a beautiful young women both inside and out. She was born into what you might expect of a successful family with both parents being doctors. She attended private prep-school for gifted children and there were big plans for her life. However her wholesome sheltered life was shattered, when the Dad that she loved and admired was caught in multiple extra-marital affairs, leading to a multi-year nasty divorce. The pain of her shattered family life was too much to bear and she escaped to drugs and alcohol, which led to a drug rehabilitation program at age 17.

She later attended a fine Texas College and started a successful career as a real estate broker. Unfortunately the scars of her past did not disappear and for 15 years she built a successful career as a functioning alcoholic.

Then the day arrived and she knew she must change and that would take COURAGE.  She headed to Florida to stay with a fellow Texan for the season. The plan was then on to Manhattan to start a promising new opportunity, however shortly before leaving she was subjected to multiple abuse situations: drugged and repeatedly raped by an acquaintance and badly beaten by a so-called friend.

This led to her hating herself and her body: triggering her previous addictions of excessive drinking and eating disorders of: over eating and crash diets, binging and purging.

Then the day came that her COURAGE was discovered through her committed faith in her heavenly and eternal father, the one that would never leave of forsake her. Today she lives a life of gratitude keeping her addiction disability under control and is committed to help/serve other with disabilities, which includes Veterans and children.
